--Only one player of the eight drafted by the Bucs in 2002 remain - safety Jermaine Phillips. Of course, Tampa Bay didn't have a first- or second-round pick that season, having sent them to the Raiders for coach Jon Gruden. The Bucs' third-rounder, receiver Marquis Walker, and the fourth-rounder, running back Travis Stephens, are out of the NFL.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Inside Slant

The Buccaneers' off-season strategy has come into full focus: Hope the offense continues to grow and the defense doesn't age another season. Not that Tampa Bay hasn't made some savvy deals in free agency. While Redskins owner Daniel Snyder spends like there is no salary cap, the fiscally responsible Bucs have concentrated on preventing their own players from leaving via free agency.

TEAM NEEDS 1. Offensive line. The Bucs had all five offensive linemen start all 17 games last season, and the continuity played some factor in their success. But left tackle Anthony Davis is a liability in pass protection. Right tackle Kenyatta Walker is an unrestricted free agent and looking to cut ties with Tampa Bay. The Bucs re-signed guard Sean Mahan to a one-year contract and center John Wade returns.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (sometimes abbreviated as the Bucs) are a professional American football team based in Tampa, Florida. They currently belong to the Southern Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The team, along with the Seattle Seahawks, joined the NFL as 1976 expansion teams. The club is currently owned by Malcolm Glazer and coached by head coach Jon Gruden.

Historically known as a chronic loser, the Bucs lost their first 26 games in franchise history. After a brief winning era in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the team suffered through 14 straight losing seasons. However, they have been a contender for most of the last decade, and won Super Bowl XXXVII at the end of the 2002 season.
